Te Uru Taumatua, Taneatua – Jasmax

Te Uru Taumatua, Taneatua, the new Tūhoe headquarters in Taneatua, near Whakatane, has been designed to have no environmental impact, to be integrated into its surrounding landscape and to give back to the world around it.

Following the guidelines for the Living Building Challenge, the highly sustainable project includes 390 photovoltaic (solar) panels, which supply electricity back to the grid during the summer months.

It received recognition at the 2014 PCNZ Rider Levett Bucknall Awards, picking up the Resene Green Building Property Award and the Warren and Mahoney Special Purpose Property Award.
