Kengo Kuma has revealed plans to construct his first ever building in Australia
The building will be a cylindrical shaped centre that will feature the Japanese architects characteristic timber gladding.
The wood will wrap around the building in a spiral formation, with the floor plates being shifted off centre.
The building will primarily exist as a library, but also house a childcare centre, market hall and a rooftop restaurant and bar with views of Sydney.
The centre will also play home to a ‘makerspace’ which is an innovative workspace designed to promote creative and technology start-ups.
The Darling Exchange will be the first building by Kengo Kuma in Australia.
