The new Tūhoe headquarters in Taneatua, near Whakatane, sets a new green building benchmark for New Zealand.
Following the guidelines for the Living Building Challenge, the highly sustainable project includes 390 photovoltaic (solar) panels, which supply electricity back to the grid during the summer months.
It received recognition at the 2014 PCNZ Rider Levett Bucknall Awards, picking up the Resene Green Building Property Award and the Warren and Mahoney Special Purpose Property Award.
