Kiwis are still in love with the pavlova paradise, and despite ever-shrinking outdoor spaces, we’re finding more and more ways to get the most out of them, according to a new survey.
That’s according to new research commissioned by Mitre 10, which saw more than 1,500 New Zealanders surveyed about their connection to the quarter-acre dream.
An overwhelming 84% of respondents agreed that they liked the idea of the traditional large plot of land with a standalone house and plenty of room outdoors, and almost all said they would rather live on this type of section than in high-density housing with reduced outdoor living spaces.
Yet over half of respondents felt that their outdoor living space is smaller now than what they had growing up.
