Based in Victoria, Australia, this new home build by Brian Alsop was constructed from locally sourced earth
The brief for this house on a greenfield site was for a warm, contemporary, home.
Structural earth walls were constructed from locally sourced earth, adding gravity and warmth to the house.
The scheme was developed and then evolved in close consultation with the owners. It was important to the owners that the house responded to the site, taking maximum advantage of views, and was complementary to its landscape.
Sustainable design was a priority through passive solar access, thermal mass, water harvesting and re-use, and geothermal heating/cooling.
