For any business, the chance to create its own offices is a golden opportunity. Corporate identity, environmental policy and commitment to staff can all be addressed in tangible ways.

Deloitte New Zealand realised its anticipated growth was putting pressure on its accommodation needs. However, the new Deloitte Centre offers more than improved spaciousness. It is designed to build the Deloitte brand – through a commitment to sustainability, as a firm that values its people, and as a business with impeccable integrity, says Neil Christopher, regional leader for design services firm Geyer.

"The design of the fit-out supports these key drivers through the provision of flexible work environments, which support the different ways teams and individuals work. It allows groups to come together in shared hub areas and also provides substantial learning facilities."

In keeping with Deloitte's reputation for integrity, the design employed a pared-back palette of colours and materials to emphasise the details. Greys, browns and whites are punctuated with splashes of vibrant colour to create an environment that values consistency and is a solid base for any future change, says Christopher.

"The selection of materials, finishes and products has been considered with the focus on detail in mind. Products with high detail integrity have been selected throughout, such as Wilkhahn's Confair table, Cite's boardroom and conference tables and chairs, Tascot carpets – right on down to the Olivari door handles."

Established in 1976, Geyer has been involved in designing and implementing more than 2,000,000m2 of workplace environments, says Christopher.

"Underpinning our approach to each project is the knowledge gained in the past 33 years regarding global best practice – particularly in the field of sustainable design solutions – and the setting of benchmarks for workplace trends and strategies.

"This emphasis on the value of knowledge has been instrumental in the growth of Geyer from its original base in Melbourne, to its offices across Australia, New Zealand and Singapore."
