Even when you've decided to paint your walls white, you still need to choose the right shade. The Range Whites & Neutrals fandeck from Resene takes the hard work out of the selection process
There's little doubt white is a good colour to use as a backdrop to an art or furniture collection. But creating such a gallery space isn't entirely straightforward, especially when you're confronted by dozens of different shades of white.
Being able to compare different colours and see how they look in your own home is essential. One of the easiest ways to do this is to use The Range Whites & Neutrals fandeck from Resene. This fandeck presents 195 colours and provides colour chips flush to the right edge of each card, making it easy to match with other swatches.
For the apartment warehouse renovation shown on these pages, owner-architect Matt Brew of Cantilever Architects wanted to keep the walls relatively unadorned to achieve an art gallery starkness. Resene Quarter Parchment from The Range Whites & Neutrals Collection was used to create a strong, yet unobtrusive backdrop for his collection of 1960s furniture.
The walls were painted in Resene Zylone SpaceCote, a low-sheen, low-odour, waterborne enamel, which is well suited to kitchens, bathrooms and broadwall areas.
Resene marketing manager Karen Warman says this paint provides a durable, washable enamel-like finish. In critical light areas, its reduced side sheen will minimise the appearance of surface imperfections.
"Combined with a skim coating of Resene Broadwall Surface Prep, a great finish is easy to achieve," she says.
The Range Whites & Neutrals fandeck complements The Range fandeck, which features more than 150 shades reflecting local and international colour trends.
