"With its dynamic wave-shaped architecture and prestigious address, The Icon @ Jalan Tun Razak will raise the profile of all companies leasing office space in either one of the two wings." Andy Chua, deputy chief operating officer, Mah Sing Group Berhad
First impressions count – especially in business. A company's culture, success and values are all reflected in the image conveyed to potential clients. And right at the top of the list of factors influencing this perception is office location.
It is no coincidence that the most prestigious office space is in buildings that provide a host of benefits to tenants over and above the actual floor space. Good architecture, sustainable design initiatives, great views and close proximity to retail centres, restaurants, education facilities and parks are all part of the mix.
The Icon @ Jalan Tun Razak is such a project. Developed by the Mah Sing Group Berhad, this Grade A office building is a new landmark right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur's financial and commercial district. Surrounded by established amenities, the 20-storey development is within walking distance of the city centre, the world-class Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and Ampang Park LRT station.
Andy Chua, Mah Sing Group Berhad deputy chief operating officer, says the building comprises two wings – East and West – each offering extensive views of Kuala Lumpur's skyline and the verdant greenery of the Royal Selangor Golf Club.
"Very few developments can boast having the best of both worlds – the bright lights of KL's renowned shopping, dining and entertainment district, and the serene golf green that can soothe nerves frayed by frenetic city living."
Chua says The Icon, due for completion this year, will not only provide high-quality office accommodation, but will also create a distinctive identity and image for the city and the building's tenants.
"The Icon is the brainchild of a world-renowned architecture firm – Singapore-based CPG Consultants. This company set out to create a dynamic, modern building that would further reinforce the unique attributes of the surrounding area."
Chua says the architecture is based on a wave shape – a metaphor for the business opportunities that will flow to companies leasing space in the building.
"The facade appears to be a seamless surface that connects the office towers with the podium roofs and ground floors, creating a dramatic composition. Four vertical elements crowned with sail-like design features further enhance the building's horizontal curves."
The interior also reflects a close attention to detail. Fifteen of the levels have substantial 1393m² floorplates that allow companies to define their own modern working environment.
A Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) air conditioning system allows the temperatures of different zones to be individually controlled.
Other key features of The Icon @ Jalan Tun Razak include a Visitor Management System (VMS) at the main lobby, and a turnstile system at the ground-level lift lobbies. There is also 24-hour security, guard patrols and more than 80 CCTV cameras.
Additional facilities for tenants include banking halls and restaurants on the ground and mezzanine levels, fitness and business centres, and an open terrace garden with air-conditioned cafeteria on Level Five.
