Architectural detailing reinforces the identity of this new PlaceMakers store and defines services for trade professionals and DIY clients
The success of any project is dependent on the quality of the construction. For the new Riccarton PlaceMakers store, this task was undertaken by Naylor Love.
David James, Canterbury divisional manager, says the company, as the main contractor, was responsible for all the carpentry and concrete work, and the supervision of the subcontractors.
James says the main challenge for Naylor Love was constructing the new building while maintaining full operations of the existing PlaceMakers shop and outdoor centre on the site.
"The building was constructed in two halves, which limited the areas under construction at one time," he says. "Each half of the building involved a post-tensioned concrete floor of 3600m2."
Naylor Love has a staff of more than 200 and has been involved in commercial construction since 1910. James says Naylor Love is a client-focussed company offering additional value-added construction services. These include feasibility and pre-construction planning, and project and design management.
