Energy costs are a concern in any hospitality venture. With new generation CFLs from Philips, you can extend your lamp life and reduce power usage
In any hotel, café or restaurant, lighting plays a pivotal role in creating an atmosphere where guests can relax and enjoy the surroundings. Appropriate task lighting also ensures work proceeds smoothly in the kitchen, or behind the reception desk.
In many such venues, lighting is a substantial ongoing cost. There are ways to reduce these energy costs, however. Philips compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) are designed to both save energy and last longer than standard light bulbs.
The company says Philips CFLs use only 20% of the power of a standard incandescent bulb to put out an almost identical amount of light. This means you can replace a 100W bulb with an 18W bulb.
Philips also says these lamps last six times as long as a normal light bulb. A Philips Tornado lamp, for example, will last three years in a situation where a normal bulb lasts just six months. This is particularly useful for bulbs in positions that may be difficult to reach, such as hotel lobbies and double-height ceilings.
The company says this type of lighting has become much more affordable in the past year. The size of the lamps has also been reduced so they are suitable for both commercial and residential use.
Philips CFL-i lamps carry the c-tick and are also safety compliant. For more details, phone 0800 4 Light (454 448). Email: firstname.lastname@example.org. Website:www.lighting.philips.co.nz .
