Maintaining employee or worker safety in the workplace is one of the leading considerations for any organisation.

PBI Height Safety, specialists in fall protection systems, was commissioned to provide a safety solution for the roof of Te Awa, The Base, says director Paul Ivory.

"We were asked to provide a fall protection system that would enable workers to work safely on any area of the roof.

"We specified and supplied the Evolution Horizontal Safety Line System. Easily installed, Evolution is ideal for companies seeking to integrate a protection system into their workplace without any damage to the structure. Also, the flexibility of the product was particularly suited to the staged completion of this project, allowing us to integrate former sections with others as they came on line."

Leading rooftop access systems provider Monkey Toe was contracted to provide a walkway system that would facilitate access to plant and equipment, says sales manager Budd Prestidge.

"Engineered to 2.5kPa per square metre, the Monkey Toe system is a strong yet light-weight aluminium product designed to transfer the walkway loads directly to the purlin, never to the roofing membrane.

"This is the only walkway system developed with roof protection as the main governing factor in the design stages. And even when fitted, the platform is mounted from 200mm to 300mm above the roof plane to keep all foot traffic exclusively to the walkway."
