GHD benefits from HVAC by McAlpine Hussmann and Trane
The move to new premises for global engineering, architecture and design firm GHD resulted in the project being awarded a 4-Star Green Star rating for Design – and it is expected to achieve a similar As Built rating from the Green Building Council of New Zealand. Heating, ventilating and air conditioning play an important role in the building's energy efficiency and were supplied by mechanical HVAC services provider McAlpine Hussmann and Trane, a world leader in HVAC engineering, products and project installation.
McAlpine Hussmann offers full commercial HVAC services from design, engineering and supply, to installation, commissioning, after-sales service and maintenance, says manager Amit Ohdedar.
"Part of our design-and-build approach includes the ability to offer the Trane expertise on system solutions, along with that company's technologically advanced HVAC chillers and air side products, such as fan coil and air handling units," says Ohdedar.
The high performance air-conditioning solutions required for GHD include a Trane air-cooled screw chiller on the roof of the building, and were a direct result of the MAH-Trane joint venture approach.
"This was our second building for developer Mansons TCLM," says Ohdedar. "And because we fully understand the requirements for Green Star specifications we have now successfully offered the same MAH-Trane solution for three more buildings."
