Design-and-build homes that offer individuality and innovation are the specialty of David Reid Homes
Anew home that is a little out of the ordinary is a priority for many homeowners. As new suburbs spring up in most towns and cities, there is a demand for architecture that doesn't simply replicate the house next door.
David Reid Homes is a nationwide company that recognises the need for individuality when it comes to home design. Whether you like a bold, modern look or a home with a more traditional flavour, the company will design and build a house that meets your precise requirements, says co-owner Alan Butcher.
"Every home is designed to suit the topography of a site as well as the architectural and budget requirements of the owner," he says. "Our designers can plan a home from scratch, or work with any existing plans you may have."
Butcher says the homes featured on these pages are examples of the diversity of the company's work. Other recent projects include townhouses, multi-level hill homes and farm houses.
National recognition has been forthcoming for David Reid Homes. The company is consistently a national finalist in the Master Builders' New Zealand House of the Year competition – this year David Reid Homes has three homes that have progressed into the national finals. These homes have already been recognised as being in the top five of homes judged throughout New Zealand, in their specific categories.
Co-owner David Reid says the company offers a fixed-price contract, covering all aspects of a project, from building consent to landscaping.
"This ensures there are no hidden surprises. In addition, all our homes have a Master Build guarantee, providing assurance that your new home will be built and finished to a very high standard.
"There are no such things as standard fittings in our homes," says Reid. "We cater for our clients' needs and desires, and don't believe these can always be met by standard plans or fittings. Our clients are discerning people and need to be treated as individually as our designs."
Reid says the company is not only concerned with the construction process – the interior design of your new home is also a priority. Consequently, the company uses a team of lighting designers and colour consultants who can ensure you are informed of all the latest trends and fashions. The consultants provide a complimentary service and work alongside the construction managers to ensure a smooth and stress-free building process.
