Clean-lined window furnishings and an abundance of natural light are fundamental to a well-appointed, contemporary interior. Specifying a product that looks the part and offers privacy without blocking light flow is essential.

New Zealand Window Shades was asked to supply the cedar timber blinds for the Poplars Apartment building renovation, which overlooks the Avon River in Christchurch, says the company's commercial manager, Lois Hayson.

"The new restaurant and bar area look directly out over the river and their extra high windows required a high-spec timber blind with robust, precise componentry," says Hayson. "Our oiled Luxaflex Cedar 50mm Venetian Blinds were specified for these reasons."

For the building's six new apartments, E-cote Luxaflex Cedar Blinds were chosen.

"E-cote is revolutionary in the coating of timber blinds and shutters," says Hayson. "It enhances the natural grain of cedar, is UV resistant, moisture resistant and is guaranteed for five years."

The company offers ten popular stain and paint colours in addition to the standard natural oil and E-cote lacquer options. The blinds can also be custom-coloured to a specifier's needs.

New Zealand Window Shades has commercial divisions in Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland.
