Wooden floors that complement both residential and commercial interiors can be easily installed using the Fastwood floating system

Ingrained appeal

Wooden floors, once only to be found in older buildings, can now be easily installed in contemporary interiors too.

The Fastwood floating floor system is a pre-finished hardwood flooring. The ready-made planks are factory finished with six layers of hardwearing and protective UV-cured lacquer.

Fastwood is manufactured in Finland and is suitable for residential, commercial and industrial use. Buster Wyllie, general manager of distributor The Lumberbank NZ, says it can be laid quickly over any sound, level and dry surface to create a hardwood timber floor in a matter of hours. "As it is pre-finished, Fastwood is ready to use as soon as it is installed".

Wyllie says the system is not normally fixed or glued to the subfloor. This means that it can expand and contract, ensuring there are no gaps or cracks between the boards, he says.

Fastwood is available in a range of colours and textures, including Australian jarrah, kauri, rosegum and mountain ash.
