To complement the formal style of this home and its outdoor living spaces, Tuscan® Bianco sandstone from Original Stone was specified
Landscaping can set the tone for a new home. For example, pathways lined with roses can introduce a country cottage while a more contemporary home may call for native plantings.
For this formal-style home, Tuscan® Bianco sandstone from Original Stone provides the perfect complement to manicured gardens and water features, says landscape architect Craig Strass, LIANZ. His company, Strass Landscape Developers used sandstone for the pool surrounds, main entrance and one of the upper terraces.
"Tuscan sandstone was chosen for both visual appeal and functionality," says Strass. "Its creamy tone and smooth texture work well with the colour of the home's plaster finish. It also provides low maintenance, durable surfaces."
For a simple, streamlined look, Strass used 600mm x 600mm tiles for the pool surrounds. Set on a 45º angle, they add linear contrast to the home, he says.
Bullnose coping highlights the curved ends of the Roman style pool, which has been edged in a border of narrower tiles.
"Achieving colour consistency with the many individual pieces of stone was important, so we worked closely with the staff at Original Stone. Their knowledge and experience enables them to provide expert advice and a quality product," says Strass.
