An ongoing romance with the land and the sea has inspired two collections of shades by Maurice Kain

Frame the landscape

Having the ability to control the level of light and shade without spoiling the view is a must when you live in a beautiful, natural environment. Blinds that can shut out the harshness of the elements, without sacrificing their raw appeal, can be achieved when they are sympathetically designed from nature's own materials.

Two collections of Maurice Kain shades – Coastal Wovens and Natural Timbers – have been inspired by the natural beauty of this country's landscape, says design director Peter Hall.

"Maurice Kain shades take their cue from the elements and reflect New Zealander's fondness for having natural materials in the home," he says.

The Coastal Woven range of shades is made entirely from natural woods, grasses and reeds to create an organic look for the window setting. These shades are recommended for public areas such as living rooms, sun rooms and kitchens.

The Natural Timber range features classic wood hues that offer full control over light levels. These blinds are more appropriate for private rooms such as bedrooms and bathrooms.
