A project the size of the Britomart Transport Centre needs to be carefully planned and managed by an experienced team of consultants
The success of any major building project is dependent on a large number of consultants and managers working behind the scenes and the Britomart Transport Centre is no exception.
Two of the many challenges faced by project managers Beca Carter Hollings & Ferner were managing multiple stakeholders and leading the project team to complete the centre within time and cost constraints. The company was contracted to manage the design and construction process for the three major contracts – the station, the interchange with the Chief Post Office and the precinct streetscapes.
Project manager James Macneil says Beca managed the resource consent process and all the public consultation, which included the establishment of an information centre.
"The company also managed the design process and the tendering and awarding of all contracts, and facilitating partnering agreements."
In addition, Beca provided a site engineer for each contract and project management support to Auckland Regional Transport Network Ltd
