Eye-catching looks combined with solid durability – the advantages of DuPont™ Zodiaq® quartz surfaces are there for all to see
Advances in technology have resulted in many innovations in the kitchen – and it's not just appliance design that has benefitted. A new collection of solid surfaces shows just how effective technology can be when it comes to formulating new materials.
DuPont, the company that introduced Corian® surfaces, has now developed Zodiaq®, a new quartz-based surfacing material. Manufactured from solid quartz crystals combined with advanced polymers and pigments, Zodiaq offers a number of benefits, says product manager Bob Dahl.
"The quartz in the Zodiaq surface captures and reflects light, bringing a lively, sophisticated look to kitchens," he says. "The designs range from a subtle effect, created by finer crystals, to a more dramatic impact achieved with larger crystals that shimmer and add radiance to the surface."
Dahl also says the controlled manufacturing process of the natural quartz surface means there are no surprises in color or shading when countertops are installed.
Hardness and durability are other advantages of Zodiaq quartz countertops, he says.
"Quartz is one of nature's hardest materials. The composition makes Zodiaq extremely resistant to stains, scratches, chips, cracks and dulling. In addition, the beauty of the quartz surface runs all the way through the material – it can't wear off."
Just as Zodiaq and Corian may both be combined with other materials, such as glass, tiles, wood, stone and stainless steel, they are also compatible with each other.
When fabricated by an authorized installer, Zodiaq quartz countertops come with a 10-year limited warranty.
