Success has many spin-offs. Doubling in size over four years provided insurance company Lumley with an opportunity to raise its profile, a highly visible presence on the Auckland skyline
There are some companies that traditionally keep a modest profile – such is the nature of their business. An insurance company delivering its products and services through wholesale channels is a good example.
But success can present an opportunity to raise a company profile to better reflect its philosophy and business practices. Lumley is such a company. One of New Zealand's fastest growing general insurance organisations, Lumley had outgrown its former Auckland premises. When the lease expired, the company took over four floors of the new Manson Development Tower in Shortland St, Auckland, and secured naming rights to the building, now known as Lumley Centre.
Lumley chief executive officer Rieny Marck says the premises not only provide a highly visible presence for Lumley – they also mark a significant milestone in the company's development and, more importantly, provide a strong base for our future.
"Lumley has redefined its core purpose statement and aims to be New Zealand's most customer driven provider of insurance solutions," he says. "The new offices will enable Lumley to provide even better standards of service and hospitality."
Rieny Marck says the move has provided opportunities to reorganise workflows and include new technology within the design specification.
"The fit-out provides an enhanced working environment for our people. It combines all the company functions under one roof, and in doing so, provides a more streamlined service for brokers and partners. We have also developed a dedicated lounge for brokers and partners where they can work and be entertained."
The transparent, open-plan layout and collaboration areas on each floor are designed to encourage greater communication between departments. The progressive, contemporary design also reflects Lumley's branding strategy.
"Our customer driven attitude is reflected in the workplace with dedicated visitor facilities," says Rieny Marck. "In addition, our meeting rooms are each named and themed around iconic customer service quotes."
The company says the new physical location allows for expansion. The layout is also going to assist the execution of Lumley's strategies and growth plans.
