Smeg freestanding cooker

Well framed – Generation Homes residence with Elite doors and windows

The scullery in this house is a substantial departure from the norm. In fact it is more of a kitchen in a kitchen – it is equipped with every appliance required for meal preparation and cleanup.

Designer Sue Gillbanks of Kitchens By Design says that right from the outset the design emphasis was on the working kitchen in the scullery.

"This is where all the food preparation and cooking takes place," she says. "The owners had already decided they wanted the Smeg 1500mm freestanding cooker and matching Smeg 1500mm stainless steel rangehood, and this became the focus of the room.

"It was designed much like a commercial kitchen, with caterers in mind, so there is ample bench space and everything is stored right where it is needed. Even the hanging pot rack is used on a daily basis."

The Smeg 1500mm cooker provides two ovens in one, with gross capacities of 92L and 72L. The cooker features distinctive Canali control knobs, and incorporates the new Smeg thermoseal insulation. This creates the most desirable and stable environment for cooking, which ensures food is succulent. It can also mean cooking times are reduced.

A multifunction operation offers a variety of fan-forced cooking, grill, defrost and pizza cooking settings. There is also a fully automatic setting as well as a conventional bake setting for both ovens.

Entertaining friends and family is especially easy with the huge number of cooktop options, including a rapid burner, wok burners and a centre fishburner.

With an extraction capacity of 1250m3/h, the Smeg 1500mm stainless steel rangehood can quickly and quietly extract steam and odours.
