Adaptable approach

A s well as realising the importance of a flexible layout, the design team at Winstone Home Builders emphasises the value of using quality materials. This ensures that the houses it builds are durable and represent a sound investment for customers, says Hawes.

The house features painted, brick-clad walls on its lower level and HardiTex on the upper storey, which contrast with the Gerard Corona Shake Textured tiles on the steeply-pitched roof. These charcoal-coloured Corona Shake tiles help create a clean, modern appearance for this home.

The Corona Shake is a roofing tile with a random profile. It is made from steel and coated with either a special satin or a textured finish.

Gerard Roofs' tiles are produced by AHI Roofing, a company founded almost 50 years ago when New Zealand innovator Lou Fisher designed the world's first steel tile, says marketing manager Gary McNamara.

"Now one of New Zealand's most successful roofing manufacturers, over the years AHI Roofing has utilised leading edge technology to produce the extensive Gerard Roofs' range of profiles, colours and finishes. Such is the popularity of the range that it is now exported to more than 70 countries around the world," he says.

Gerard Roofs also produces a variety of other tile profiles, including the Tuffcoat tile, Colortile and Oberon and Senator shingles. Angle, box and barrel trims are available for all these tiles. The colour range is designed to match other external design elements such as garage doors, aluminium joinery, wall claddings, fascia and guttering systems.
